Lisbon - Global Capital of Creation

The New York Times, the US’s most influential paper wrote up an itinerary for Lisbon as the city is becoming a capital of creativity, creation and culture on a global scale. Come and see for yourself.

During the day:

Berardo Collection - Located in the imposing Centro Cultural de Belém, on the banks of the Tagus between the Hieronymites Monastery (Mosteiro dos Jerónimos) and the monument to the Discoveries. The collection definitely places Portugal on the European Modern and Contemporary Art circuit.

Galeria Luís Serpa - Agência de Arte Vera Cortês - Cristina Guerra Contemporary Art - These three galleries are responsible for showing and promoting the most exciting works produced by national artists and creations made by promising young foreign artists.

Shopping:

Storytailors - Their creations are inspired by dream-like worlds and stories that would enchant the brothers Grimm with fairy tales and ghosts from the «Wuthering Heights» and «Alice in Wonderland». This will probably challenge visitors’ subconscious the most.

Ana Salazar - Alves/Gonçalves - Present their fascinating proposals of locally produced fashion.

Fátima Lopes - The store belonging to the most international of all Portuguese fashion stars is located in the picturesque Bairro Alto district of the city. Fairly-like, colourful and bold, Fátima Lopes represents Latin femininity in all its splendour.

Santo da Casa - This is where young national creators come together with some of the great names of European design. This store is a real treat for those who admire design as art.

Galeria Reverso - Jewellery made from materials like aluminium, plastic, rubber and wood. The gallery offers innovative proposals where creativity is let off the leash.

Eateries:

Yasmin - If you want to start the evening in style to the sound of modern jazz and some signature cuisine, Yasmin is one of the top spots for well-heeled locals.

After dinner:

Left - Start the night at this minimalist, modern bar with its clean simple lines.

Fábrica do Braço de Prata - This eclectic and daring idea represents the spirit that is on the rise in the last European capital to experience a cultural explosion. Everyone is welcome and are certain to find something they like in the wide range of things on offer here from a philosophy conferences to concerts, films and documentaries, a wander round the library, theatre, dance, DJs and all kinds of bands, the only hard part is to choose.
